Project Management
Vdot's project management features are unique because they report the status of work that was executed within Vdot and thus tracked automatically. This means the information is always current. There is no lag between work being completed and the management system knowing about it.
For the individual, Vdot provides a task list of all assigned tasks in active processes, whether they are currently ready to execute or not. The individual can filter based on project, completion state, schedule status, position in the hierarchy and priority. The workforce can easily see what tasks are ready, if they are late and by how much, if they are critical and how much effort was planned. If a task is not yet ready (needed data not yet available) the responsible individual can see when it is projected to be ready and who is holding things up. The most important tasks that are ready to go are easily seen and can actually be started right from the task list screen.
For management, Vdot provides summary information for all of the tasks associated with a team, sub-team, or element of a process or project. The number of on-time vs. late tasks in total as well as broken into ready and not ready states is shown to gage the health/performance of a team or project. The total workload for a requested time span is shown as well. By drilling down the team hierarchy this workload information can be discovered for an individual as well as for the team.
